As Sisters and Associates, we have spent several weeks contemplating Inclusive Love as a pathway to union. We now turn our attention to Self-Emptying Love, remembering that no one pathway stands alone. In our tradition, the six pathways to union are lived as an integrated whole.
To deepen our reflection and contemplation of Self-Emptying Love, we offer three movements which unfold through three videos:
- Movement 1: Setting the Course
- Movement 2: Feet On the Ground
- Movement 3: Pathway to Union
The three videos are designed to be used one at a time over the coming weeks. Each video invites you to pause from time to time for personal reflection. We encourage you to go at your own pace, allowing space for deepening contemplation.
Movement 1 offers a guided meditation on the self-emptying of Divine Love in the person of Jesus. The video is accompanied by a handout for your continued personal reflection.
Movements 2 and 3 offer brief thoughts about self-emptying love, as well as personal sharing from several sisters and associates. Questions for personal reflection are threaded throughout both videos. We suggest you pause the videos while you ponder these questions.
Once again, we offer a variety of Prayer Resources related to self-emptying love. Choose whatever draws you into deepening prayer and contemplation. In addition, you may wish to draw on these materials for various gatherings or meetings. We also offer links to three articles you may find helpful for your on-going reflection.
Lastly, you will find a suggested Format for Sharing the fruit of your reflection and prayer in local communities, in Christian Growth Groups, or in other groups you may wish to organize. A similar prayer format will be used for two Zoom gatherings for sisters and associates being hosted by the Vitality of Life Committee on:
